The Arizona budget process is, once again, being prolonged by the Legislators, who have already included money for teacher salary increases that would compensate for the 1.7% increase in ASRS contributions. This money is in addition to what is already included from recent bargaining for the 2006-07 year. There are questions remaining, as to whether or not the Districts will actually use the monies for its intended purpose, create new 'hoops' to jump through for it's attainment, or will hold it for future considerations - instead of just amending contracts. Keep your eyes on the up-dates, and when the Legislature completes the budget, make sure that your local representatives are doing their jobs to your benefit!
