Az I Use It....

It takes money to make money, and if you are like me(not rich), I do what I can to economize and to make my money last just a little longer.  Here are two things that you may want to try:

1.  Medicinal prescription transfers - I have no loyalties to any particular pharmacy, and when I receive offers in the mail, or in newspaper ads, soliciting me to transfer my old prescriptions(or bring new ones) in exchange for $10 to $25 in giftcards, I will certainly do just that!  The important thing is to make sure that the pharmacist is aware of other medications that you are taking.  After  the purchase, you are certainly able to re-transfer your next month's prescription back to your previous pharmacy.  CVS, Rite-Aid, K-Mart, Target and Wal-Mart are the pharmacies most likey to make these offers!  And if you do not have prescription medical co-pay coverage, Costco pharmacies are usually the least expensive, for purchasing most prescriptions!  Shop around!

2.  Tired of getting those credit card offers in the mail?  Well, keep them coming!  If you are paying cash for your goods, you are missing out on a source of major savings!  I put just about EVERYTHING that I can on my credit cards.  I have one for 5% rebates on gas, groceries and drugstores;  one for 3% for dining out and 2% for travel expenses(hotels, rental cars, airfare, etc.); and one for 1.5 to 3% on everything else!  And each of these cards are NO FEE! (1% offers or airmile credits , especially with annual fees attached, are NOT a good investment!)

Last year - 2005 - I received approximately $2,000 in rebates(it will be more this year!) - money that I had already spent, and would not otherwise have ever seen again!  Caution - if you do not pay your bill in its entirety each month, then this is NOT for you!  If you already have the money in the bank for these purchases, then why pay cash?  Leave your money in the bank, and when the bill comes due, simply pay it!  Not only will you get the rebates, but your money will stay in your account for at least a month longer than if you had paid cash or written a check!

Some credit card offers will give you giftcards/cash, 0% balance transfers, etc., upon acceptance/usage, and any new credit acceptance may have an impact on your credit rating.  And who cares what the card's APR is, if you pay it 'in-full' each month?  Compare offers before deciding!  If you are fiscally responsible, this may be for you!
