Superman Returns - starring Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey

Directed by Brian Singer

What have you done with my Superman?  A fate worse than Kryptonite - he has been turned into a metrosexual with super powers!   Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Superman - he(George Reeves) was my childhood idol(him and Mickey Mantle!), but this was not about the same Superhero that I grew up with.  This was too much a love story - like James Arness and Amanda Blake(Matt Dillon and Kitty, on Gunsmoke), with some good action sequences, only with more unrequited love, and only serves to set up the next sequel(Superman finds out that he has a son!)
The special effects were, at times, spectacular!  The action was, at times, thrilling.  The acting - Brandon Routh's debut, the anorexically beautiful(but brunette) Kate Bosworth, and Kevin Spacey's diabolical Lex Luthor(Gene Hackman was better) was, at times contrived, at times comical - but otherwise enjoyable(it is a comic book adaptation).
A personal highlight was the opening scene - featuring Noel Neill - the original, I think(at least the most famous) television Lois Lane(well Teri Hatcher was pretty good, too!), and later, Jack Larsen(the original Jimmy Olson), as a bartender!  Anyway, if you like the greatest of all Superheroes, you'll love this film.  But if you can't even enjoy a 'magic mailbox'(The Lake House), then this movie just won't fly!
