Based on the true story of Ron Clark, an elementary teacher who brought a sixth-grade class of Harlem, NY students to their fullest potential, fighting through the battles of their everyday life experiences, administrative and socially low expectations, as well as his own personal adjustments. Perry does a commendable job, in his first major project since 'Friends.'
The student portrayals are realistic, also - and if you do not agree, then consider your teaching/parenting experiences to be especially blessed! I know many teachers - including myself - who have experienced the portrayed situations. It is given that Clark would succeed, but the message is clear - raise the bar - students are capable of whatever you expect from them. 'Failure is success waiting to happen!'
