Diane Lane is 'Pearl,' conflicted by the loss of her youthful experiences, due to giving birth to a child at age seventeen. Set in summer, 1969, Pearl, while on the traditional family vacation, meets a young traveling salesman(Mortensen), and runs off to Woodstock with him, returning to find that her entire family is devestated by her affair. The love stories, the rites of passage(Paquin is the 14-year old rebelling daughter; Schreiber is the victimized hard-working, straight-laced husband), the community and societal conflicts - ie., Viet Nam, Nasa Moon landing, ever-evolving societal morals, etc., and the individual resolutions, make this film enjoyable and interesting. A 'Must See!'
