Az I See It....
Dorothy requested larger print, so let's try this!....A massive, one-piece stone calendar, unearthed near Mexico's northern Gulf Coast, depicts women as important religious and political leaders, circa 700B.C. The monolith measures more than 8 yards and weighs about 20 tons, providing further evidence that women have always been the 'Rock' of society!....There are many political issues at stake in the up-coming November 7th elections, from Senate and Congressional races, to Propositions that will greatly(and immediately) affect our quality of living. This weekend, I will tell you the TRUTH about them, so that you have something else to consider before voting YOUR choices!....More than half of all Americans re-gift, and more than 75% approve of the practice! For those not approving, greed was the main reason. Some people will give nothing away!....KPNX-TV recently ran a story about Arizona's unqualified teachers - a result of President Bush's NCLB legislation. The story then singled out Deer Valley Middle School, in the DVUSD, and the focus of the story then became the DVMS teachers that were notified of their impending terminations, for not meeting the ever-changing 'Highly-qualified" standards. The story should have emphasized the plight of veteran teachers, being terminated due to lack of specific NCLB required subject training - regardless of their prior experience and expertise. Yeah, they did have a shadowed figure, with a disguised voice, mention that, but it only made the appeal for reason look more ridiculous - from both sides of the story. Nothing objectionable or questionable was stated, so it really shows how afraid Arizona teachers are to stand for their rights! The truth is that there are unqualified teachers in MANY districts - and Administrators, at all district levels - are directly responsible for their hiring, poor training/supervision, and minimal standards and dismal expectations. Until Administrators are held accountable, as are teachers, the profession will continue to deteriorate, and Arizona education will continue to be disrespected! Inexperienced, over-worked(and OVER-PAID) Administrators are a detriment to education. That is one of the direct products of a rapidly growing metropolis, with little or no financial oversight(ie., Local Control, non-unified districts, incompetent State and local leadership, egotistical and power-hungry school boards!) Why is it that Administrators do not have to be 'Highly-qualified?' Oh, they have a degree? Well, so do a lot of professionals, in many fields(Doctors, Lawyers, Indian Chiefs) whose services I would not trust!....The Mystery Shopping Providers Association ranks Phoenix consumers as having to wait the least amount of time, of the nation's top 25 cities, when including Valley retailers, banks, markets, convenience stores, gas stations, etc. That may be influenced by Arizonan's rights to carry weapons into most public facilities("Don't shoot - you can go ahead of me, sir!")....Indonesian police had to protect a huge, landmark Banyan tree, after a Muslim youth group had attacked it to prove that it had no mystical powers. And the U.S. and the United Nations are trying diplomacy with these religious zealot-idiots?....Finally, a Kenyan government official has proposed changing the legal definition of 'youth' to "anyone aged 15 to 50," from the present ceiling of age 30. I will stand by my definition of middle age, as 'always ten years older than I am!'
