The Reel Deal
Breach - starring Chris Cooper and Ryan Phillipe
Phillipe plays an up-coming, aggressive FBI clerk appointed to assist in bringing down Agent Robert Hanssen, the most destructive spy(played by Cooper) in U.S. history. Based on true, recent history, this film is filled with espionage and intrigue, great acting, historical value and little action. Although critically acclaimed, I found myself wanting to see something else - anything else! Don't get me wrong, you should see this film - and you will like this film(I did) - just not necessarily on the big screen, and at those prices!
There was one special theme that figured in the plot, about how Agents with 25 years of experience get their portrait taken and prominently displayed in the halls of the FBI, as a tribute to their public service. I could not help musing about the certificates that my teacher friends recently received for their service - while observing the portraits of Board members and administrators - many of whom have very little tenure and much higher wages than the longtime 'grunts!'
