The list of recalled pet foods continues to grow, as pets continue to become ill and/or die. It seems that making your own pet foods may be the only way for some to ensure their pet's health. I wonder why there has been no outcry from pet stores or animal control facilities?....Speaking of food, the price of corn has increased 100% from a year ago, due to abnormal weather conditions. This is causing a ripple effect across the nation's food industry, as corn is the main source of feed for dairy cows and chickens. As a result, poultry and dairy products, especially eggs and milk, are spiking. And corn is supposed to be the nation's source for ethanol production? No wonder South American countries are using sugar. In the U.S., the oil barons also must own the corn farms!....Some Arizona law enforcement officials are refusing to enforce the voter-approved Prop 100, which mandates that illegal perps be held without bail. One illegal was released and deported. He returned to the U.S. and murdered another man, shortly afterward. What a joke!....Arizona Universities announced a tuition increase for next year, claiming financial shortfalls. Less than two days later, it was announced that a sales tax windfall, voter-approved in 2000, would allow an additional $79.7M to be distributed to these universities to pay for research projects! And no one has said a word! I also do not understand why people bequeath their estates to these universities, when the public K-12 systems need the money desperately. Of course, I understand that at every level there is corruption, but it would be nice if just one multi-millionaire would direct an estate to teacher pay raises! You would even get a school named after you!(It's to die for!)

ALSO Randy and his Mom (Linda) put 2 + 2 together and Figured out that Sammy Their MiniPin who passed away from kidney failure in November ate the Old Roy Brand Dog Food. Menu Foods knew about the poison and started testing December around December 3rd.
My personal feelings is go Organic and try a Local company in Tucson Called Azmira. Goober is in Tempe. Give it a Try, Also Wag & Wash and Smelly Dog also have a good selection, We use Goober Express because they deliver and it is easier for us.

I’m sure that you share our sympathy and concern for the pets and the pet owners affected by the recent recall of dog and cat food products produced by Menu Foods, Inc., a private-label pet food manufacturer based in Streetsville, Ontario, Canada. This recall involves all "cuts and gravy" style dog and cat food produced by Menu Foods at its facility in Emporia, Kansas between December 3, 2006 and March 6, 2007.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has determined that the cause of the problem has been traced to the ingredient wheat gluten which was found to have contained the chemical, melamine. The FDA has banned all further imports of wheat gluten from the Chinese supplier used by Menu Foods.
We are contacting our customers to reassure them that none of the products supplied by Goober Pet Direct are a part of this recall. We carry premium food products that are formulated with the highest quality ingredients.
