Az I See It....

Odds and ends:  Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the evil anti-American, has taken control of the holdings of the four major oil companies in his country.  While he is an evil man, he is not stupid(aka Bush), and has publically bashed the oil-conflicted U.S. President for his allegiance to corn-based ethanol.  He is correct!  America will soon face an increase in the cost of many household staples, including(to name a few) milk, beef, pork, poultry, corn and, yes, gasoline/ethanol!  American farmers are already hard-pressed to grow enough corn, fast enough, to satisfy the burgeoning energy needs, and the demand for feed and other corn products is rapidly escalating(supply and demand!)....The older you are, the more likely you are to own a home.  In fact, home ownership among baby boomers and seniors is approximately 76 to 83 percent.  So, if you are barely eking by, don't sweat it.  At some point in time you will get the house that you wanted(Isn't that how it works!)....Native American women are more than twice as likely to be victims of rape.  Sovereign nations, huh?  Somehow, the White Man is going to blamed for this, too!....Scientists have announced the discovery of a potentially inhabitable planet, but are concerned that colonization by humans may doom its existence.  They call it - Earth!....A mineral, recently found in Serbia, appears to possess the almost identical properties of the fictitious Kryptonite, of Superman fame.  It is white, instead of green, and must be kept away from your Viagra!....Metro Phoenix is ranked 44th, nationally, in auto thefts.  In related news, Mexican officials have determined it is no longer necessary for U.S. auto manufacturers to relocate to Mexico!....The Senate has authorized an additional $16B for math and science programs in U.S. public schools, to be distributed over the next four years.  President Bush, wanting to leave a more lasting legacy, suggests it should be paid at the rate of one dollar per year, for 16 billion years!....Arizona's Stupid-intendant of Public Schools - Tom Horne - is pleading to have educational policy-making returned to the states.  This is called 'local control' - the vehicle which has already driven Arizona to the brink of disaster.  Horne cites the more than 100K illegal immigrant students as requiring more than can be accomplished, under the stress of federal requirements, but like all Arizona politicians, he refuses to deport them, and only wants to allow additional time before test results would be scrutinized.  Actually, they only need to emphasize two words - 'Adios, Amigos!'
