Az I Play It....
Last time badgering the Phoenix Suns - for awhile, at least! With the NBA Draft looming, the Suns management are looking to add a couple of quality rookie additions. This, however, will not make the Suns any better - or worse - than they already are.
L.A. Lakers coach, Phil Jackson, proud owner of eleven NBA Championship rings, has always maintained that it is a Big Man's game - and is he ever correct! Just as the NFL's Az. Cardinals will not win without much bigger AND more capable front lines, neither will the Suns. They have all of the offense they need, in Nash, Marion, Stoudemire, Diaw and Barbosa. What they are lacking is a defensive presence at the center position(Amare insists that he is forward) - unlike MJ had with the Bulls. Most of the Bulls' centers couldn't hit the backboard with a basketball and a map, but they would make sure that the other team didn't, either! Yeah, I know that Phoenix acquired Luke Longley, after he got a ring with Chicago, but Suns coaches expected him to be a scorer, and he could not!
Bottom line, as long as the Suns sellout almost all of their games, then along with merchandising, TV rights, etc., they really are not feeling as urgent as the fans are, to win a title. Yeah, they'd love to hear the 'roar' of the crowd, but more important is to hear the 'cha-ching' of the register!
