My friend, Phil D., relates that MSG is an addictive, sometimes poisonous substance, which is in many American foods(remember the 'No MSG' signs at your favorite Chinese restaurant?) - under disguised names, such as 'hydrolyzed vegetable protein,' and 'natural flavors.' Other names may be 'Accent,' 'Aginomoto,' or 'Natural meat tenderizer.' Amounts in any foods are unregulated, and are specifically designed to increase appetite - with the major side-effect being obesity!
And Phil's wife, Carol, recalls that while butter has more calories than margarine, that stick of goo is one molecule away from being PLASTIC - and has NO nutritional value! Mangia!
