Az I Eat It....

Heidi's Brooklyn Deli - 8360 W. Thunderbird Rd.

After an exhausting day of substitute teaching, Linda and I decided to chow down at Heidi's.  If this is how the food and service was in Brooklyn, it's no wonder the Dodgers left for Los Angeles.  I attempted to use the two newsprint coupons that I brought along, but was told that I could only use one per visit.  When he I explained to the clerk that it does not state that policy anywhere on the coupons, and that I was ordering two separate 'entrees,' he shyly said, "I'm sorry - but you can use it on your next visit!"  I replied that he could keep it for his tip, and I placed it into the tip jar!

With an assortment of sandwiches, soups and sides that I now will NEVER sample, I ordered the Italian Sausage & Peppers, while Linda tried the Eggplant Parmesan.  Both 'hot' sandwiches were served relatively cold, and the 'sides' of cole slaw and potato salad were in very small containers - like the type you receive tartar sauce in!  Linda sent hers back, because she said it did not taste like any eggplant she'd ever had, and it was replaced with a turkey sandwich - but by then she wasn't hungry anymore!

The premises were relatively dirty, with scraps of napkins and foodstuffs littering the floor, and the counter employees were relatively disinterested in what they were supposed to be doing.  My preparer asked me several times what my order was supposed to contain.  Heidi's Brooklyn Deli gets the Bronx Cheer from Me!
