Az I Eat It....

Have you noticed that you've never dined at a 'Hispanic' restaurant?  And that no one speaks 'Hispanic?'  Yet it is politically incorrect to refer to Mexicans speaking 'Mexican?'  But as long as we eat at their restaurants, it appears to be acceptable to call those establishments 'Mexican.'

Well, I'm going to review some Italian restaurants, where the people are Italian, and speak Italian, and it is perfectly acceptable so say so!  A place where literally every second storefront is an Italian restaurant!  And hundreds of them!  Really!  Of course, these restaurants are in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts, where one of the most prominent churches is the Sacred Heart Italian Church!  Mangia!

Ristorante Saraceno - 286 Hanover Street

When friends get together on Hanover Street, it is often at Saraceno.  The food is exquisite, the service properly attentive, and the ambiance conducive to fun and relaxation.  The most popular entree on our visit was the shrimp linguni with scampi sauce, but others ordered dishes that were as well presented and equally delicious!  The imported limoncello liqueur was an unexpected treat, and I understand that it is only available in the Boston metro area.  Kind of like the 1960's, when Coors could not be purchased in the East, and Molsons could not be purchased in the West!  If you visit Boston, stop in to Ristorante Saraceno for a wonderful Italian-cuisine experience!

Gigi Gelato - down the street from Saraceno(just ask - you'll find it easily!)

When I asked my hotel concierge for a local place(I was in downtown Boston) for gelato, she answered - nothing around here - you have to go to the North End!  Absolutely right!(abso-what?)  Homemade Italian gelato, in numerous flavors with sizable portions, at reasonable prices - and everyone said theirs was delicious!  I know mine was(lemon).  The perfect dessert, after dining at Saraceno!  It was the best I've had since I went back to Buffalo - even better!

Anthony's Pier 4 - at Seaport Village, in South Boston, across from the new Convention Center

The only mistake was thinking that we could dine there for lunch and that we may still be hungry enough for dinner, after the Rod Stewart concert that night.  Yes, it was a mistake.   Couldn't do it!  The breads, salads and soups(clam chowder and seafood soups) were more than enough, but we also ordered seafood entrees(salmon, and lobster-stuffed sole) - at 1:00pm.  Delicious and plentiful, although pricey(hey, we were on the pier!)  But we were still not hungry after the fabulous concert ended at 9:00pm.  Next time we're in Boston, though, it's lobster dinner at Anthony's Pier 4 - and that's no fish tale!
