Az I AARP It....

At a recent AARP Summit, in Phoenix, Channel 12's Rick DeBruehl spoke about the anxiety of turning age 50, and his hesitancy to enroll in AARP(formerly American Association for Retired Persons), and his awakening to its benefits.  AARP has been known by its anagram only, since 1998, and membership is granted to any person age 50 or older.  Membership also includes the spouse, regardless of age, and benefits may extend to other family members not of age.  Mr. DeBruehl joined for one reason, finally - the discounts!

AARP's 39 million members have enabled me, and many of my friends, to receive large discounts for home and auto insurances, medical services, travel discounts, etc.  The focus of the Summit was to encourage support of the Divided We Fail program.  DWF is an effort to alert all politicians that they will not receive votes, or other support, if they do not support legislation to ensure affordable, quality medical insurance, continued financial security, and affordable, long-term healthcare.  There should be no one who would not want these programs, for themselves or their loved ones, but they are always political pawns.  DWF does NOT advocate socialized medicine or socialized healthcare.  But there are some politicians who do!  Support DWF, educate yourself, and vote your conscious!
