Az I AARP It....

-AARP has designated Scottsdale Healthcare a repeat recipient of the 'AARP Best Employer Award,' for recruiting and retaining its now-numbering almost 1,800 employees, aged 50 and older.

-Federal and State investigators are attempting to limit the effects of scammers on senior citizens, as they are the most vulnerable age-group for such activities.  With the assistance of some of the local Chapters, including Youngtown's Chapter #1, the 'Seniors Strike Back' program, and the many state-wide 'Shred-a-Thons,' AARP has spearheaded this fight-back!  Included, but not limited to these scams are:  Fraudulent lotteries and contests, investment opportunities, attaining access to personal banking and retirement accounts and other monies, and the unscrupulous Payday Loan businesses.

-Support AARP's Divided We Fail - a campaign to ensure quality, affordable access medical care access, for all U.S. citizens;  financial security for all seniors;  and quality, affordable long-term care, for those in need of this service - by avowing to only vote for politicians whose platforms and plans best reflect those same goals - and a promise to continue to vote for those candidates, and to vote out those that do not comply, if elected!

-Youngtown will hold a Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods(GAIN) event, on Saturday, October 13th, from 5 to 8pm, at the Youngtown Clubhouse and Council Chambers complex.(on Alabama Ave., west of 111th Ave.)  Among the many Youngtown exhibits, AARP Chapter #1 will be encouraging visitors to enroll in AARP membership($12.50/year, for those aged 50+), and to enroll in the DWF petition(not necessary to be an AARP member)  And if you are already an AARP member, bring your membership card, and join the Youngtown Chapter #1($2.00/year) - we serve those in need!

-Next Chapter #1 general membership meeting is this Friday, 12noon, at the Clubhouse/Chambers complex.
