Within the campaign for Divided We Fail, the initiative to ensure quality, affordable medical and long-term care, AARP is fighting for financial assurances for all. One of the issues is Arizona's unregulated Payday Loan industry - actually created by the Arizona legislature, in 2000, when they were 'duped' into allowing a loophole in what has become legal loan-sharking!
Well, the loophole will expire in 2010, and the sharks are already tempering their tactics, by now offering to prominently display their interest rates and fees, an obvious attempt to 'dupe' the incoming legislature into believing they have 'cleaned-up' their industry. Yeah - they cleaned-up alright - cha-ching!
