Az I See It....
-Even if there is a 'best choice' to be the next U.S. President, by the time the media political analysts are finished, the American electorate will feel that they must 'settle' for the lesser of two evils - again!
-Only 3800 Arizona university/college students(out of more than 340K enrolled) have been determined to not be legal U.S. residents, and thereby ineligible for in-state tuition status. At ASU, the largest of Arizona's universities, only 207 students were dtermined to be illegal, and have been given grants(FREE money) by ASU foundations, allowing them to attend FREE! Yeah, that's right - FREE! Arizona is losing more than $38.5M, by not charging out-of-state tuition(approx. $16K annually) to these illegals, and spending more than $23M to keep them enrolled! While legal American students must somehow afford the almost $6K in-state tuition, plus fees - or go back to their native United States!
-It is estimated that if American citizens had a zero birthrate, the U.S. population would still grow at a rate of more than 1% annually, due to illegal immigration!
-Az. Gov. Janet Napolitano is counting on you to become a criminal! That's right - her proposed 2008-09 budget shortfall solution is dependent upon each of us committing - and paying for - our crimes, to the tune of $90M. Specifically, speeding and being caught, by a multitude of newly installed speed detection camera, on various Arizona roadways! So, people, we have been given two choices: 1. run-for-the-money, and ignore the cameras(and pay the fines that go largely unpaid anyway), or: 2. slow down on the already overcrowded, slow-paced FREEways, and contribute to tanking the economy. Vrooom!
-Maricopa County finance officials are appalled that County Atty. Andrew Thomas spent more than $190K on anti-crime information booklets for the general public - and they still have no idea as to the actual total cost to produce and distribute this valuable tax-payer financed tool. These same officials would not comment on the cost of so many staff members wasting several hours each - over two days - to arrive at their 'anti-cost conclusions!'
