Az I AARP It....
- The next AARP Chapter #1 meeting will be at 5:30pm(dinner), on Friday, March 7th. Why in the evening? Because there are many AARP members that work until 5pm, and cannot attend our usual 12noon meetings. So, bring your AARP friends - dinner entrees will be provided by the Chapter #1 Board(you may bring any sides or desserts to share), and enjoy the friendship of our members. Entertainment will be provided, as our main program, as well as useful information for people aged 50 plus! Please RSVP, so that we may have enough for all! 623-853-5140(Arky)
- The latest endorsers of the AARP Divided We Fail campaign are AASRA(retired teachers branch of AARP) President Maryann Parkinson, Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard, and Avondale Mayor Marie Lopez-Rodgers. Did you know that Sen. Barack Obama(D-Ill.) has not signed the DWF pledge? Shameful!
- As the result of a purposely, legislative-created loophole, in 2000, payday lending companies have proliferated and ravaged unsuspecting Arizona consumers, especially those who are typicaly considered to be more at-risk. This loophole is scheduled to close, in 2010, but legislators are being lobbied to extend it for two additional years! Contact your legislator(s) - SB 1239 must be defeated! Support AARP in this endeavor, as the public has a right to expect better representation!
