Az I Teach It....
- Arizona could expand the state's performance pay plan to all districts/teachers - if appropriate funding could be found(NOT!) A recent lawsuit claims unfair hiring practices, among other charges. All things considered - why will the state/districts simply advocate for higher teacher salaries, and cease inundating teachers with more hoops to jump through - that greatly distract them from their efforts to actually teach?
- Recent data from the Arizona Community Foundation reports the folowing recommendations for improvement of Arizona's schools: improve teacher preparation, on-the-job training, and salaries; rise the quality, accountability and expectations of all schools; increase school funding, while insisting on measurable results; help more students pay to attend college.
The study reveals - again - that Arizona students lag the nation in test scores, while having fewer high school graduate attending and completing college.(Hey, though - we have Tent City!)
