Az I See It....

- It is interesting that our gasoline prices soared, as soon as it was announced that our our prices were the lowest in the nation!  Arizona gasoline has increased twenty cents per gallon, in only the past few days!

- U.S. Army General George Casey is calling for shorter combat tours, from 15 months to 12 months, citing low morale, stress, and a general lack of preparedness.  Pres. Bush, and other Republicans, may instead push for a renewed draft, instead of an all-volunteer Army.  In related news, Mexico and Canada are adding border patrol agents, anticipating a 'surge' in illegal immigration!

- Sen. McCain says both Sens. Clinton and and Obama are wrong, and that the 'surge' has been successful.  He is wrong - GI's and Iraqi citizens are still dying in large numbers, as the tactic has only slightly shifted the areas under siege!

- Earmarks:  Clinton, for NY State - $324M;  Obama, for Illinois - $91M;  McCain, for Arizona - $0(and he's proud of this!)  Having a Senate representative who will obtain our tax dollars for our own state - PRICELESS!

- Flores v. Arizona wins another round in court, commanding the State to pay hundreds of millions of pesos to teach English to 134K students(curiously down from 150K, since Arizona's sanctions laws took effect.)  With a megamillion budget deficit looming, the State and local districts may now alter policy, and demand proof of legal residency, before allowing students to register.  Governor Napolitano is still pandering to potential Mexican voters, applauding the pro-Flores decision.  She envisions herself as McCain's non-representative, senatorial replacement!

- People tell me that they are not going to vote, if their only choices are a Republican and a Black Democrat.  They admit they'll be upset if the Republican wins, and feel that their vote won't count anyway.  Well, if you don't vote, it will certainly not count!  Clinton and Obama are drawing thousands at their rallies, while McCain draws merely hundreds.  The difference?  Republicans show up at the polls!  VOTE!

- Arizona voters and politicians would rather cede Constitutional rights to illegal immigrants, than to allow any legal rights to same-sex couples, based on their own moral/religious beliefs.  What a State!

- Alcohol is the biggest underaged substance abuse problem in Arizona.  The crackdown on convenience stores selling to minors is offset by the parents who supply minors, rationalizing that they are 'supervised(safer at-home), and - it's only beer, afterall!'

- Ralph Nader has announced his entrance into the presidential race.  I'm still holding out hope to be made King!
