Az I AARP It....

-AARP Youngtown, Chapter #1 has just concluded its 3rd annual Shred-a-Thon, in coordination with the Arizona Attorney General's Office, and the Town of Youngtown.   Deborah Boelke, the AG's representative, stated that Youngtown surpasses all other state shredding efforts - by far - with 265 car loads, plus the Town of Youngtown's discards(equivalent to another 25 to 35 carloads - at least!)
Many thanks to: Pat & Orv Druehl, Mayor Mike Levault & the Youngtown staff, Jim & Arlene Schuh, Anita Russell, as well as Herb, Phyllis, the Youngtown Police Department, the Az. Attorney General's Office staff, and the ABCO Shredding Company(and anyone else I may have neglected to mention.)

- In spite of intense lobbying by AARP, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of employers, allowing them to reduce or end promised medical benefits to retired employees eligible for Medicare.  AARP had argued that reduced benefits violate age discrimination laws, but the Justices had no incentive to agree, because they are appointed - not elected - and THEY have benefits for life!

 - The next general meeting of AARP Chapter #1 will be on Friday, April 4th, at 5:30pm, and will include a potluck dinner and Gail Allen speaking on many aspects of automotive safety for people of all ages!  Gail is a truly dynamic and knowledgeable personality, and will offer her expertise and enthusiasm for our membership!
