Az I See It....
- No matter where I travel(New Orleans and New Jersey, on this trip), the local news is eerily the same, ie., murders, child abuse, gang violence, illegal drug-trafficking, domestic violence, economic troubles, deadly auto crashes, and illegal immigration problems. And no, it's not MY fault!
There are significant differences, however, from Phoenix, Arizona. For instance, Arizonans cannot normally complain of high taxes - but regularly complain of poor public services. Arizonans do not admit to poor curricular standards, but students typically test much worse than the rest of the world! Elsewhere, it is rarely reported that public schools are as grossly underfinanced, with poor teacher pay/benefits and high administrative expense. In the Grand Chasm State, these conditions are accepted as 'just Arizona!' Oh, yeah - also in Arizona, apathy is rampant - but, who cares?
