- Get ready for a wave of 'green shock!' Across the drought-stricken, energy-starved South, water and electric power conservation has been urged, and sometimes mandated. Now, the utility companies are claiming that their earnings have been far short of legally established allowable limits, and are demanding increases in consumer prices that may make the present gasoline price spikes look like mere flickers of a CFL light bulb! In Georgia and North Carolina, water rates will increase at least 15 percent. In Arizona, electric bills may incrase an average of at least 20 percent, in the coming year! The same is occuring across the rest of the Mid- and Deep South. Rates will NOT decrease - ever! You can save the Earth - one person a a time - but we shall ALL lose our 'green' together!
