Az I AARP It....

- More than 3 million older adults, with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, go missing each year.  A new Silver Alert program, inspired by Amber Alerts for missing children, is in effect in nine states.  Statistics show that if an elderly person is not found within 24 hours, there is a 50% chance that they will suffer a serious injury or die!  More states are considering the program, but hesitate due to the over-whelming numbers, which may make the program ineffective!

- Medicare premiums will remain the same - $96.40/month - for 2009, the first time since 2000 that health care cost increases are not passed on to seniors!

- The next meeting of AARP Chapter #1 will be on Friday, October 3rd, at 5:30pm.  State Director David Mitchell will be he guest speaker, preceded by a potluck dinner.  There are presently nine(9) active Chapters in Arizona.  To find one near you, log-on to:   aarp.org
