International: The election of Barack Obama, as the next President of the U.S., is hailed world-wide, and in polling, he actually received much greater margins of victory everywhere else, compared to the relatively slim popular vote victory he received in the U.S!....China and Taiwan signed a historic economic pact, lifting airspace and sea lane restictions for improved commerce. Pres. Bush fears that it may lead to pressure for him to resume normalcy with Cuba!....An attack in which nine U.S. troops were killed and 27 wounded was carried out with the assistance of local Afghani villagers, police and government officials. Pres. Bush suggested a boycott on wearing Afghans!....The Commander of Colombia's arm resigned, after it was found that his officers were killing innocent civilians, and then claiming higher body counts of rebel army forces!....In a setback to Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahm-a-Nut-Job, one of his closest political allies was impeached for falsely claiming he held an honorary law degree from Oxford University. With his political grip weakening, he asserted that if he must, he will resort to again killing those who oppose him!
National/State: While the rest of the U.S. voted to not elect Senator John McCain to the presidency, Arizonans overwhelmingly gave him their ten electoral votes. Arizona Democrats must have believed that bogus text message, telling them they were to vote on Wednesday, as the voter turnout was only 64% of those registered - much less than in 2004!....The Rednecks have spoken! Because of Proposition 102 passing, Arizona now defines Marriage as a union between only a man and a woman. California voters passing their Proposition 8 appears to have done the same. The Supreme Court will ultimately decide. God save the Queens!
Local: Only Tolleson voters agreed to unify their school district. When, and if, it will actually happen is anybody's guess. Administrations and school boards have officially retained their Good-Old-Boy statuses, and 'local control.' I can't wait for the day when Arizona sets their clocks forward!
