Az I Teach It....

- The Roosevelt School District is being applauded for its effort to ensure that every classroom has a hi-tech Smart Board(a computer-operated 'chalkboard'), at a cost of $1,300 each(at least $850K), within 3 to 5 years!  Save the taxpayers the money, in these difficult economic times.  What each classroom actually needs is additional smart teachers, with students and parents that value their education!
The Arizona Republic cites that only two(2) of the district's twenty-one(21) schools are now either under-performing or failing, down from eleven(11), but that statistic may say more about Arizona's low AIMS standards and expectations, instead of actual school improvement.  Time will tell!

- Tolleson, the only school system to approve district unification, is fighting the outcome, resisting what all other districts rejected, citing 'confusing and misleading language in the initiative,' as the reason.  Regardless of what the courts eventually rule, district unification will not happen in Arizona!  But, to not have valid, appropriate language in their voter initiative is even more reason to scrutinize the Arizona public school system!
