Az I Teach It....

- Peoria Unified Schools have renewed their 5-year contract with Smartschoolsplus, Inc., a phased retirement program to retain quality, veteran teachers, which allows them to access their State retirement benefits and be paid a lesser sub-contracted salary for continuing to teach - a Win-Win for the teacher and the district - but with changes:  the new contract includes an annual review/renewal clause, and teachers will not receive any sick days - if you don't work, you don't get paid!....In related rumors, the Deer Valley Unified District may end its Smartschools, Inc. contract, in an effort to eliminate up to 400 teaching positions, due to the State education budget cuts.  Smartschoolsplus-employed teachers lose all seniority rights, and are therefore the first to be eliminated in layoffs!
