The Reel Deal
This Is It - starring Michael Jackson and cast of Dancers, Singers, Cameramen & Producers
No matter how you feel about the man - Michael Jackson - in his personal activities, this documentary depiction of his last rehearsal days is extraordinary! The genius and talents of this performer as he choreographed, directed, created(music and special effects), and performed - for what would have been his grand finale 50-show extravaganza - is a masterpiece of modern art.
It was amazing to see the professional singer and dancers that he selected, and how he - at age 50 - was better than any of them! He moved effortlessly, directed purposefully - and with the intensity of a much younger persona, while the hired pros, even in their flawlessness, were not capable of duplicating what MJ felt, and expressed.
The much-older crowd may not appreciate this film - except for 'Smooth Criminal - a music video production that included some Bogart interactive film. And the young may not understand the same footage. But, if you grew up in the 1980s, when Jackson was a ground-breaking performer, you should see and hear this on the big screen - maybe even in IMAX(I wish I had!)
The soundtrack is available at WalMart($15.00), but you'll be remiss if you miss it at the theater. And stay until the VERY end - when all of the music has ceased, as the credits provide even more worthwhile insights into the genius of the King of Pop! Long live the King!
