Az I Use It....

Let's begin the month, and end the year, with a flourish of giving and savings:

Log-on to www.restaurant.com  and you will be able to give up to thirty(30) people (DAILY) a $10.00 gift certificate to the restaurant(s) of their choice, as well as receive them from your recipients!  Hurry, though, as this promotion ends on Dec. 25th!  Merry Mangia Christmas!

GET YOUR MONEY BACK!  Arizona allows taxpayers to receive dollar-for-dollar tax credits for charitable contributions to qualified organizations.  My favorites:

1.  Az. Public Schools Tax Credit - money may only be used of extracurricular activities - to the school/program of your choice.  Up to $200/single;  $400/married couple.*

2.  Az. Private Schools Tuition Tax credit - money to be used for tuition payments(not for own child, but couples have been known to 'reciprocate' donations)  Up to $500/single;  $1,000/married couple.*

3. Military Family Relief Fund Tax Credit - money to be used for military families in which a U.S. service member has been killed in combat.  Up to $200/single;  $400/married couple.*

4.  Az. Working Poor Tax Credit - money to by used by qualified charitable organizations of your choice.  If unsure of which organizations qualify, log-on to:  www.azdor.gov/taxcredits/charitabletaxcredit.aspx  Up to $200/single;  $400/married couple.*

*These are maximums - any other lower amount is also acceptable!

All credits to be claimed on Arizona Tax Form 321, and may be claimed independently of each other., ie., if your total Arizona income tax liability for 2009 were to be $2,200.00, and you donated the maximum allowable to organizations in each of these categories, your new tax liability for Arizona would adjust to $0.  You would also have allowable deductions for your Federal taxes, also, thus helping each of these organizations and receiving a return on your 'investment.'

NEW - no tax baseline needs to be established for any of these opportunities, a process that discouraged some from participating in tax credit programs!

So get going, and get giving!  People/programs need your assistance - and you need the money!  And my Mother always said, "It takes money to make money!"  If you're going to owe up to $2,200 to the state anyway, you'd be better off giving it to your favorite qualified charitable recipients, instead!
