Az I AARP It....

- It's not too soon to mark your calendar and plan on attending the next Chapter #1 meeting.  On Friday, May 7th, we will honor longtime Board members Lucille Retheford and Daphne Green, who are retiring from active service.  This will be the last meeting of this season, with meetings reconvening in September!

- On Saturday, April 24th, the AARP Chapter #1 Annual Shred-a-Thon will be held in cooperation with the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce and Voice of Youngtown Business Association's Recycling/Business Expo.  These events will be at the Youngtown Plaza, southwest corner of 111th Ave and Alabama, in Youngtown.  The Recycling/Business Expo will be from 9am to 2pm, while the Shred-a-Thon will be from 9am until 12noon, and include distribution of anti-identity theft information from the office of Maricopa County Attorney General Terry Goddard.  Individuals will be allowed up to two(2) Xerox-size boxes or bags of materials to shred - at NO charge.  Additional boxes or bags will cost $10 each, with all monies being donated to the Valley View Community Food Bank, on Nevada Ave., in Youngtown. 
     The recycling effort is open to all, regardless of community residency, and will include appliances, computer and other electronic components, sealed paint cans and automotive batteries, etc.  For more information, contact National Glass(a major sponsor), on W.
