Az I Teach It....
- Vote FOR a state sales tax increase? NOT! More scare tactics are claiming impending doom - larger class sizes, loss of public services, more teachers, firemen, and police officers - virtually all public service sector layoffs! No talk of cutting expenses, such as duplication and wasteful and/or unnecessary spending, etc. No mention of administrators - in all sectors - losing their jobs. Why? Because the cuts are starting at the bottom, and working their way up. Education cuts will not mean the loss of overpaid, and unnecessary or duplicate administrative positions. Cutting just ONE administrator will save at least TWO teaching positions(usually more!) And there are NO specifics as to where the increased education funding will go, because each district has....wait for it....Local Control - and may use the money any way they wish! Historically, in Arizona, it has been administration first - classroom last - hysterically!
- Arizona Dept. of Education figures, as reported by an ASU research study, states that 85% of Arizona public school students do not switch schools, regardless of being labled Excelling, Failing, or anything in-between. Transportation and economics are the biggest factors in determining school choice, as well as local opinon, however uninformed. What was not reported was that as many as 10% of Arizona's children do not attendschool, or attend very minimally!

It is our experience that political leaders do not always mean the opposite of what they say.
