There is a federal program that is managed by Medicaid(AHCCCS in Arizona) whereby income-eligible Medicare recipients would no longer have their $96.40 monthly Medicare premiums deducted from their Social Security checks.
The Qualified Medicare Benficiary(QM
Program is a federal program available to individuals with gross monthly incomes of $1, 246/mo. Somewhat more for couples. That figures to just under $15K per year for individuals. For more information, call your local Senior Help Line. In Arizona, that number is 602-264-4357. In Western New York, the number is 716-858-8526. If you reside elsewhere, call one of those numbers anyway and they will give the contact number for your immediate region.
