The Reel Deal
Tree of Life(rated PG-13) - starring Jessica Chastain, Brad Pitt, and Sean Penn
Tree of Life? A weed, maybe. This film is about a 1950s family struggling to deal with.....It doesn't matter. This film has no real purpose. The best parts were outer space photos taken by the Hubble Telescope, and you can see those on the Discovery Channel. There was no real connection to any significant plot, and while the child actors(Hunter McCracken, Laramie Eppler, and Tye Sheridan) did a commendable job, the rest of the cast was wasted. Certainly in line for a Razzie Award(Worst Film of the Year.)
Quite a few patrons left the theater, as this slow and impersonal movie proved too much to bear! The biggest roar of approval was when it ended, and I facetiously called out, "I can't wait for the sequel!" Let's hope Hollywood doesn't take me seriously. Seriously!
